About

I’ve been painting since December 2010. I’ve taken at least one class per month – occasionally two when my work schedule permits. I served as Executive Director of the Marlboro Area Arts Council for 18 years and not ONCE did I take one of the many classes offered. It wasn’t until someone had paid for a class and couldn’t attend (class fees are non-refundable) and I couldn’t find anyone to take the spot. So, I took it and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love painting animals – I “get” animals. Landscapes and florals are my 2nd and 3rd favorites. One day, I hope to be creative enough to sit down and just paint. Thus far, I ‘m not inspired without a photo to copy. Maybe one day, I’ll be brave enough to try a really “FREE” interpretation. We’ll see.

I’ve been decorating eggs since about 1995.

Pysanky—a traditional craft in Ukraine, with a history of thousands of years. The method is similar to batik – patterns are drawn on the egg with wax, which then protects the covered areas from the dye that is applied. By repeating this process with different colors of dye, a multi-colored pattern is built up. Finally, the wax is removed to reveal the colors that were covered up at each stage. The symbols and colors used are rich in meaning; many pre-date the arrival of Christianity, and have had Christian interpretations layered on afterward.

My husband likes to build stained glass items in his spare time – what little there is of it. I will be creating a page of some of items and windows, etc.

    1. Thanks for your comments and feedback. That’s my reason for building this blog – that and putting all my paintings in one place.
